Events & Marketing Co-ordinator

Reports to: Training Manager

Location: Langport, Somerset

Hours of work: Full time – 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: From £20,000 to £23,000

Job Description

Role Summary

Based at the SBA CIC’s office in Langport and part of the wider communication team, responsible for supporting end to end delivery of the organisation’s events and marketing programme, including the online events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading on implementing the organisations marketing strategy.
  • Managing external events and working with contracted suppliers.
  • Working closely with the Training Manager to ensure events are delivered within budget.
  • Supporting the delivery of the SBA CIC events programme, both virtual an in-person events, and suite of webinars from inception to delivery on the day.
  • Support ad-hoc external engagement events that feed into the overall organisational objectives.
  • Work closely with the care team to deliver the marketing strategy for events.
  • Supporting CEO to develop, monitor and implement the strategy. 
  • Creating social media content pertaining to the events
  • Work closely with Training Manager to create content-led event communication and information copy that will be used for promotion, speaker invitations, briefing documents, and other communication channels.
  • Update event promotional materials.
  • Ensure insurance, legal, health and safety obligations are adhered to.
  • Undertaking market research and competitor analysis.
  • The role may be varied from time to time by the Training Manager or CEO and within reason the post holder must be prepared to perform other duties outside of the scope of this role


  • Able to demonstrate at least two years’ experience of marketing and event management.
  • Demonstrable up to date knowledge of event industry trends and innovation and examples of having delivered those in recently events including virtual events.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in supporting both the comms team and events team.
  • An interest in developing social media skills.
  • Creative flair, ability to bring creative solutions to live and virtual events and able to provide examples of have delivered this in recently events.
  • Ability to identify tasks and take lead when appropriate, with the support of the Training Manager.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver to high standard of accuracy within tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of venues and business venue requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, able to communicate in an engaging way with external stakeholders and members.
  • Aptitude and ability to use different technology systems


  • Previous professional experience of working for training business or organisation.
  • Previous experience of working in the business support sector.
